WHO IS DR. HUGENOT? This 29 minute video explains this.
DEATH IS NOT FINAL - BLOG
"There is no death, there are no dead"
By Dr. Alan Ross Hugenot, Engr.Sc.D.
Physicist - Mechanical Engineer, Near-Death experiencer
We now have an M.D. in London who revives cardiac arrest patients that have
been dead for three or four hours.
Really dead (no respiration, no heart beat,
no EKG brain wave). This is not an NDE, but actual permanent death. His secret for full
recovery is hypothermia. When a patient cannot be revived with CPR and defibrillator,. instead of declaring them dead (as is standard procedure in most hospitals), Dr. Parnia quick cools them so their
cells won't deteriorate. Then using MRI and x-rays to locate the problem (for
example a blocked artery to the heart), the doctors decide what to do, perform the necessary bypass and
then when finished, use the defibrillator to revive the patient who has, for several hours, been literally dead by every definition we
know. He does not use any artificial means to support life, just cools down the dead cadaver. Of the numerous patients brought back this way, some have NDE like memories
of the time while they were dead. He is Dr. Sam Parnia M.D his book is ERASING
He says "So by definition there has to be some sort of "afterlife", even if only for a few hours after death......The idea that when we die there is nothing that remains seems at best premature...If the human consciousness or soul does indeed continue to exist well past the traditional markers that define death, does it reall ever die as an entity?"For readers who yet disbelieve in the Near-Death experience and the afterlife, I invite you to please watch all of the following videos. Do so as a scientist with an skeptical but open mind. Many of the speakers who have died been to the other side and returned are Ph.D's and M.D.s. and even physicists, all of whom use the scientific method in their analysis, as they were trained to do in graduate school.
After hearing their thoughts, consider that there are thousands of similar eye-witnesses to this expanded reality who are members of IANDS the International Association for Near-Death Studies.
Next, consider that Quantum Mechanics (QM) fully supports the expanded reality these people are talking about as a conscious universe, but the same QM does not support the 350 year old Newtonian physics paradigm you were taught to believe in high school and college.
Finally, consider the possibility that, just maybe, your difficulty
with believing in this expanded reality of a conscious universe is only your assumed beliefs and what your
mentors assumed as truths when they were teaching you about science
and reality. And that, just maybe, what now clouds your perception of what
constitutes reality, with thoughts of "That can't be so", is based only
on unproven beliefs and assumptions.
The blog is in the posts below after the videos.

THIS VIDEO IS AN EYE OPENER ABOUT SPIRIT COMMUNICATION Posted Dec 6, 2013.
Although, the action takes place in our material world, it shows that consciousness exists outside the brain, and clearly disproves all assumptios that consciousness and communication is a by-product of the brain. It also shows (except to true believer skeptics) that there are methods of ESP which science has not yet begun to plumb.

LOVE ACROSS THE VEIL
©Nov 10, 2013 Alan Ross Hugenot
The most famous line in Spiritualism is,
“There is no death,…. there are no dead”.
But, in our daily lives have we been acting as if we know they
truly aren’t dead?........
In our daily lives we often live and act as if our loved ones
are actually dead and gone.
We are pushed into this view of death by the world surrounding
us that believes our physical body and materialism is all that is actually real
and that spirits in the afterlife are imaginary.
But, the undeniable truth, which Helen repeatedly tells me as
she speaks to me from the other side is that our loved ones are more alive in
the afterlife, now, that they are in spirit, than we ourselves are presently
alive here in the physical. Helen keeps reminding me of what I knew when I was
on the other side during my Near-Death experience, that the afterlife is more
real than this physical reality here in what we call life. She reminds me of
what Saint Paul said,
“Consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the
glory that will be revealed to us”
Yet, our ego’s continue to fool us into believing that creation
(this physical world) is real.
The Gnostic Christians in the early Christian church said that people
are “intoxicated with matter” literally drunk with being physical. Rev.
Florence Becker, the gifted direct voice, physical and trance medium who
founded this Golden Gate Church, in her book “The Science of Being” states on
page 176 that,
“The Perception of Creation, is the refusal of the no-thing (your ego)
to be no-thing. As a mirror refuses to be itself and insists upon being all
before it, so the no-thing (your ego) assumes to be whatever may be in the mind
of the one who approaches the conception.”
Rev. Becker’s words are a restatement of the Observer Principle
proven by Quantum Mechanics. But, she stated this in metaphysical terms. Still,
this shows that Spiritualism truly is a science proven by Quantum Physics, and,
as we are reminded from spirit, Spiritualism’s truths, when fully recognized,
will overturn the propositions of materialist science.
Rev. Becker also says “There is no material life”….”Life is
Taking this seriously, we should not allow ourselves any
consciousness of death, at all.
Yet, because all of us are so caught up in the physical flesh
(matter), and surrounded by materialist thinking on all sides in our daily life,
we seem unable to fully understand life existing without a physical body.
But, spirit continues to tell us that on the other side they are
much more alive than we are here.
Consequently, when we see them as still very much alive, and
treat them as being right here with us, they can begin to help us in many ways….Ways
which will have profound effects in our lives on this side.
Over there, they have a more objective view point, and those “terrible
mistakes, which everyone makes”, in this life become more vivid for them in
spirit. Suddenly, even those who did not seem to care when they were on this side
definitely want forgiveness.
On June 26th medium Charlyn Spitzer, brought my Father through in a very evidential
fashion, and he said “I am sorry Alan, I did not know how to
reach out and hug you. I was very broken inside I should have. I am very pleased
with how you turned out despite my not being here for you at all….Please
But, for spirit to come through you have to empower your
departed with your belief in them. You must regularly make yourself available
for spirit greetings, if you are not near the telephone operator (the medium)
then your departed loved ones may not be able to get through to you.
Their coming through to you only happens as your believing in
them gives them powers in this physical world. Tthis is what direct, physical mediumship
is all about. They will draw their physical power from you, and from your
belief in them.
But, your relationship with spirit can go much further than mere
forgiveness. Spirit can work with you across the divide The power of two hearts
working in parallel across the veil is a profound thing, but it requires two
hearts in love, completely and unconditionally trusting each other across the
divide, to bridge the gap between the two worlds.
The stronger your belief, that they are actually alive, the more
you empower them in spirit to have effects in the physical world.
It is YOUR knowing that creates their power here in YOUR
physical world. They draw all their power in the physical world from you, and
you release that energy to them through your belief in their being alive.
This profound power, working across the veil takes two of you as
fully agreed collaborators, one on each side in total trust of the other. Being
so in sync requires continual daily communications 24/7.
Jesus said, “Wherever two or more of you are gathered in
prayer/communion, I am with you”. He did not say “wherever on earth”, he said
“wherever” meaning anywhere in the universe. This Christ energy of miracles is
yours to accomplish with when there are two of you working together on both
sides of the veil.
When you believe they are alive then communication starts to
happen 24/7. This is not only allowing them to talk to you through a medium on
Sunday mornings. Instead, you have to create a two way conversation with them. You
have to remember to speak to them by name and have real daily conversations.
You have to actually know that they are not dead, and so act like this is true.
Napoleon Hill in his book, “Think and Grow Rich”, explains this
very clearly. How to form a mastermind group, by calling up all your deceased professional
heroes from whom you would like to have guidance and asking them to serve on
your advisory board. Then giving each of them a position on your mastermind
committee. He then suggests setting aside a regular daily time to meet with
this board of directors to discuss progress and what still needs to be
accomplished. They will then help you accomplish it. And, I will shortly give
you a personal example of that process.
This method of communication and help which I am describing operates
entirely through the “heart” of belief. entirely loving, without ego.
Purpose is paramount and there can be no hidden ego inside. If
the purpose is willful, then this never works. But, if your purpose is loving then
it always works.
Now, as you get know me you will hear me talk about Helen my
soul-mate guide from spirit, she was my wife Gale’s mother. Who passed on in
Helen has assured me that we (Helen and I) have known each other
intimately for a very long (either on the other side, or in prior lifetimes). Yet,
we agreed not meet in the physical life this time around because our story of
being drawn together across the veil without having met in the physical is so
valuable to our current mission. She
also reminds me that we will have eternity together.
Helen, often attended services here at Golden Gate Spiritualist
when she was in the body, especially on the Sundays with billets. But, she made
her transition two years before I met her daughter Gale.
Since Helen contacted me from spirit in the Spring of this year,
I carry on a dangling conversation with Her 24/7, and she gives me guidance and
There is an amusing story about Helen told on that TV video interview
which I taped with Mel VanDusen of KMVT-TV Mountain View on September 10th, and
which Melissa Haddick has so kindly posted on the Golden Gate Church’s Facebook
Page. The story is about how Eunice Smith, during our festival of mediums on
May 18th, brought through valuable undeniable veridical evidence that it was,
in fact, Helen talking to me, from the other side.
Helen had already been coming through to me for some time in my
inspired writing. Yet, now in this private sitting Eunice told me that she saw
a “mother figure”. So, I was naturally thinking that the woman she was bringing
through must be a blood relative. But, Eunice also said, she is from Minnesota,
and is apparently an Architect. …..Thinking about this I said to Eunice, “But, I
don’t have any mothers or grandmothers who are architects from Minnesota”.
Eunice was not bothered by this and said, “Let me ask her about that….” Finally,
Helen gave Eunice this thought, “Well, she is a mother figure, but she is not exactly your relative, and she
is not exactly an architect but she draws houses, and she is definitely from
Minnesota, she also has brown curly hair and brown or hazel eyes.
Suddenly, I realized it was Helen, who as my mother in law is
not exactly a relative but is a mother figure, and who was a San Francisco
developer and did actually draw the plans for the house I am now living in,
which she later allowed the architect to complete, and Helen was born in
All of this was undeniable proof that it was Helen with her
brown curly hair and hazel eyes alive and well on the other side and coming
through to me. I also knew that Eunice had no way of knowing any of these facts
except from spirit.
After proving to me that it was truly her, Helen now talks to me
daily almost 24/7 and this has continued for over half a year. When I don’t get
up and meditate at 4 am to speak with Helen, she will make me imagine that someone
rang the doorbell, in order to wake me up.
Her darling soul is everywhere she can possibly contact me. For
example, in that message from my father on June 26th, which I spoke of earlier,
Charlyn said in closing that she also saw also an unidentified woman standing
in the background. At first you might think that woman was my mother there with
my dad. But, on Wednesday, August 14th Melissa Haddick who had been
seeing a team of guides, a group of men, who were there for me and delivering
their message, in closing again identified this woman standing in the
background as “Very enthusiastic about you, not a relative, who says she will
always be there for you as you practice mediumship”
This very enthusiastic woman is very much alive and she gave me
the following thought eleven days later.
On August 25th, Helen said, “Alan, in your naiveté, you think
that you and I will meet face to face in the spirit world. But, that is just
because of your sense of the physical. The fact is that we will always be
spirits even when you join me here in spirit. That shouldn’t surprise you, that
our close connection will always be in spirit, and if you understand it, then
we can be just as close right now, across the divide, as we can ever be in all
“The great secret hidden from your ego, there in the physical, is that
connection (love) between two independent spirits is always on the sprit plane.
True connection comes from holding nothing back, but giving unconditional love,
complete trust in the other at all costs, even if both spirits are still
clothed with bodies, it is the same.
“For you and I across the veil, it is the same as two people living in
physical bodies, we must both believe in each other with no doubts…. To do what
you and I are destined to accomplish requires powerful belief in each other,
coming from both sides.
Six days later on August 31st she said,
hold you as the dear son who did not come to me in my last physical life, but
who will abide with me throughout eternity, and I am grateful to be given the joy of you now.
Three days later on September 3rd, she said, “Remember
this is all about the growth of your heart. I love you and am overjoyed to walk
beside you, hug my girls (Gale, her
sister Bonita and Gale’s niece, Roxanne) I will always be here for you,
and……Yes, Alan my feelings for you are just as intense as yours for me….Now, go
forth and love your neighbors.
Six days later on September 9th, she said, “Stay
on the path in all things, I know that you cannot see the end and sometimes
you’ll be in a fog. Just trust me then….This mountain road leads around the
next blind curve, it does not lead over a cliff. What you and Gale are involved
in is so much greater than either of you can see during physical life….Trust me
and stay on the path. I’ll help you with your speaking and loving of
The following day September 10th, the morning before
I made that evening TV interview video, she said, “Just remember to surrender to
spirit those things of the ego. I will be here holding your hand my child, so
there is nothing to fear, only love and help as you let go of the ego. All your
board of directors made up of physicists, thinkers, and M.D’s of the past will
sit in council tonight to put the words in your mouth, just speak from love and
from your heart, and spirit will provide the honest and great ideas to flow.
Think of me as you speak and I’ll protect you from your ego, so the truth will
come from spirit”……Alan, you are not ALONE, NO ONW IS ALONE, and it does not
all rest on your shoulders. Jesus said “My yoke is easy and my burden is
light”, and no truer words were ever spoken. Why we each want to stack up
burdens and problems for ourselves while living on earth is part of the reason
we chose to incarnate, and those reasons are purposefully hidden from you while
you are in the flesh…. Alan, my Captain, like a voyage across the ocean you do
not need to see the foreign shore, for which you sail, prior to departure. You
trust the stars and the winds to carry you through ‘Come what may’, and so you
set sail in confidence and faith…. My darling,….. walking on this path is the
same….. Belief is paramount, it creates the energy which brings the fair winds from
spirit which carry you along the pathway…… Let me be the helmsman my beloved
Captain, and I will steer the ship around the rocks and shoals of your ego, All
my love now and forever, Helen.
You can see and feel the emotion I hold in all of this, and how
much it means to me, and also how conversational our communications across the
divide actually are.
I have described only how Helen is active in that part of my
life that you can all witness me doing here at Golden Gate church. But, this
relationship does not stop there. Helen participates in all parts of Gale’s and
my personal lives as well. Helen is involved in nearly everything we do. It is
like having her at supper with us every day.
But, my point today is that you can also have this kind of intense,
overwhelming love relationship with your own departed loved ones. Freely loving
them across the divide.
All it takes is you really and truly believing in them as actually
being alive, ……believing it with all your heart,….. without any doubt…… and at
This intense level of belief, and making it easy for you to have
is why we want to move on to the spirit greetings which make all this possible
by proving the continuity of life.
Now, I want to close with Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s Sonnet No. 43, The open line you will recall as ‘How
do I love thee let me count the ways” …And, listen closely to what these lyrics mean to a spiritualist when first
published in 1850 at the dawn of Modern Spiritualism..
Sonnet No. 43,
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth
and breadth and height
My soul can reach when
feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old grief’s, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose with my lost saints,
I love thee with the breath, Smiles and tears of all my life!—
And, if God choose, I
shall but love thee better after death.

BELIEF THAT WE ARE SEPARATE FROM GOD AND EACH OTHER IS THE PROBLEM - By Alan
Hugenot, October 23, 2013
When we have a Near-Death
experience, or any other “out-of-body” experience and spend time with the being
of light (Infinite Consciousness), we are not really occupying any space at
all. At that moment we are neither inside nor outside the body. This is because
the body is merely an illusion created by the ego. What we have done instead is
that we have “discarded the pretense of a physical body”, and this gnosis has
caused a paradigm shift from the space-time illusion back to spirit, which is
Momentarily, we cease to believe in
the body as being real, and consequently we immediately return to the other
side of the veil and communion with infinite consciousness.
Think about it this way. Each of our
individual consciousness’ is like a grain of sand in a beach. The beach as a
whole is INFINITE CONSCIOUSNESS, but without each of us being there as an
individual grain of sand, there could be no beach. But, together, the whole is
larger than the sum of the parts. All of us are part of God, but none of us
alone is God.
Spirit (the super-conscious) is like
that. All of us are part of God and as long as we remain aware of that we will
see unity and no separateness. But, the moment we begin to believe in the ego
as real and that we are a separate individual, creation of the illusion we call
Creation is like a mirror reflecting
the aspirations of the ego. In Quantum Mechanics the observer principle says
that, “what you see is what you get” and consequently when we observe something
(i.e. take a measurement) we cause the state vector collapse which literally
creates matter and reality out of the myriad probabilities of the Schrodinger wave
function. The wave function itself is not matter, it is only a mathematical
model (a mere thought), you could say the wave function is a piece of
consciousness and from that “piece of consciousness” our observation precipitates
Rev. Florence Becker, the medium who
founded Golden Gate Spiritualist Church at Franklin and Clay in San Francisco described
it this way,
“The part becoming conscious of
itself, by losing its consciousness of the whole, takes on the concept of
separation, and by reflecting its own consciousness of itself in limitation, it
begins to form creation.” P. 187, The
Science of Being ©1976 authored by Rev. Florence Becker.
Think about this long enough and it
becomes obvious that our perception that we are separate individuals is what causes
all creation. As soon as we all stop seeing ourselves as separate the [physical
universe will cease to manifest any longer and we can then all reside in spirit
and in unity (returning to the singularity which existed before the big bang).
DR. HUGENOT SPOKE IN SAN FRANCISCO, OCTOBER 19TH. Dr. Hugenot's presentation was well received at at the regular meeting of IONS-SF, where he spoke on Quantum Consciousness and the NDE here is what the group coordinator said the following day in their newsletter, " We had a highly attentive and interactive group to hear Alan
Hugenot at our October 19th IONS San Francisco community group meeting.
It was mind expanding on a level that we seldom
feel on the topic of the near death experience, supported by quantum physics,
as a launching pad for questions about where we go when we die, reincarnation
an why we are here in the first place!
Alan's presentation was chalk full of authoritative physics which made it clear
that everything he explains is supported by modern science. We could have
benefited from a full day's time to absorb it all. Alan was also very generous
with his time during Q&A at the conclusion of his presentation. THANK YOU
WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS
By Alan Ross Hugenot, September 25, 2013
Last night, after
giving a presentation on Quantum Consciousness
and the NDE, at the South Bay IANDS, meeting in Saratoga, CA. during the Question and Answer session following, I was asked
to define “Consciousness”.
This is of course the question that we have all
being trying to answer for the last hundred years. Personally, I want to
integrate consciousness into the standard model of quantum physics, but to do
this we will have to define exactly what consciousness is. Unfortunately, it is
a word like LOVE which has multiple meanings.
On one level
consciousness is HISTORY, the story of everything that has happened. On another
level it is EXPERIENCE, the story of everything that has been learned. This
experience can also be defined as HABIT. On still another level consciousness
is CREATIVITY. On another level it is simple AWARENESS. Consider your house
plant whose leaves grow toward the sunlight, or a flower that closes up its
pedals for the night, these plants have a level of consciousness or awareness,
and they also record experiences. What about your pet cat or dog? They also
To place consciousness
in its proper perspective within our standard model of physics, we will have to
come to terms with its several definitions and describe it in ways that are
more precise than simply saying “consciousness”.
This is what the
International Association for Near Death Studies (IANDS) and the Institute of
Noetic Sciences (IONS) are all about. Defining what consciousness is and how it
We are moving forward into an
entirely new paradigm as we realize our Conscious Universe and all its

2013 IANDS CONFERENCE - ARLINGTON VIRGINIA
Labor day Weekend
By Alan Ross Hugenot, Sep 2, 2013
A loving conference with more speakers than I could count providing excellent
presentations. I particularly enjoyed Joanne DiMaggio's workshop on soul writing,
and Virginia Hummel's workshop on Orb Photography.
Joanne gave details of how to get in touch with your soul through dedicated
writing, including finding out about your past lives, and had us do it right
there in the workshop.
Virginia told us what camera to use how to capture the orbs, how to attract
them, and how to analyze the photos to be sure that the images are not water or
dust specs, or refracted sun light.
Also, impressive were the key note speaker Dr. Eben Alexander, author of Proof
of Heaven, and Dr. Mary Neal author of To Heaven and Back. Both
told the story of their NDE's.
I also presented two workshops, one on the Death Roadmap, and a second on the Physics of the Afterlife, which you can download here.

THE PHYSICS OF THE AFTERLIFE
By Alan Ross Hugenot, July 8, 2013
Many people have asked
me to teach a class on how quantum physics allows for the afterlife. I will be
providing that opportunity at the IANDS 2013 North American Conference
over the Labor Day weekend in Arlington, Virginia (i.e. Washington DC)
On Sunday afternoon of
that three day weekend, which includes Monday as a holiday, I am offering a two
hour seminar on The Physics of the Afterlife, in which I will give a
basic synopsis of the science supporting the afterlife and also provide references
to all the rigorous scientific studies which back up this emerging scientific
The seminar is a
special “break out session” for a limited number of attendees. So, if you are
interested get registered for the weekend convention right away, and book that
session which runs from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM on Sunday September 1, 2013.
Skeptics often use the
basic concepts of Newtonian materialist science to undermine people’s belief in
the afterlife. But, the leading quantum physicists have known, for over 80
years now, that Newtonian physics is itself invalid at the subatomic level and
that the universe is made of consciousness. Further, in the last 30 years there
has been much data developed which provides proof of the afterlife, yet this is
not common knowledge within the biological and medical communities.
Hope to see you there.
WHY CLOSED MINDED SKEPTICS ARE ALWAYS
AFRAID TO CHECK THE FACTS By Alan Hugenot, May 26, 2013
A leading atheist, true scientist,
and a true open minded skeptic Bertrand Russell once said, “We should not go for complete skepticism, but for degrees of
probability”. Professor Russell was
simply expressing the principles of the scientific method:
scientist identifies a question arising from an observation.
scientist forms a hypothesis, or unproved assumption
hypothesis is tested in an experiment, or on the basis of data collected.
scientist analyzes and interprets the data to reach a NEW conclusion
conclusion either confirms of disproves the hypothesis.
approach is called empiricism, or the experimental method and is the basis of the
Scientific Method, which was first advocated in the 1630’s by Sir Francis Bacon,
who urged scientists to experiment and then draw conclusions instead of starting
with the conclusions. The
scientific method is the logical procedure for gathering and testing ideas which has led western science for 300 years.
Yet, you may have noticed, as I have, an anomaly in how unscientific closed minded skeptics can be. It seems, with closed minded skeptics that always, no matter how many
scientific studies show that the afterlife exists they will
still refuse to accept that reality, or the physics behind a conscious universe and
consciousness survival. This is because they start with their conclusion already decided.
My sainted mother often said. “A
man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still”
which pretty much sums up the hard boiled skeptic’s position. It is an expression of the same closed minded position we often find with religious people of, "I know what I want to believe so don't confuse me with the facts".
Victor Zammit, a retired lawyer in Sydney, Australia, who has studied
Afterlife survival for over 20 years described this anomaly this way.. Victor was giving a presentation to a meeting
of the local Humanist Society in Sidney when one hardcore closed minded skeptic
burst out with, “I would not believe in the afterlife even if you could prove it to me,
This was basically a childish re-statement
don’t want to believe, therefore I won’t”. It is simply not the type of
position a reasoning adult would normally take when faced with scientific proof or undeniable
But, what then could cause reasonable thinking people, who are skeptical to continue such deep resistance and absolute refusal to accept the
facts or the idea that the afterlife might be real?
Most psychiatrists and psychologists will agree that irrational
motivations and clearly unreasoned responses are normally caused by very deep seated, but often unrecognized fears.
Also, in my personal experience, I have for a number of years been developing a theory regarding the motivations of closed minded skeptics. During
discussions with skeptics (and atheist skeptics in particular), I have often
heard them make references to, “The superstitions of my grand parent’s
generation”, or, “Listen, I was raised in a religious family
and know all about that religious bull shit, and I’ll have none of it”, and other hateful statements, which indicate they were quite possibly abused as
a child by their parent’s trying to force religion upon them. Then as a consequence of this abuse they have already decided
subconsciously not to accept anything that might remotely begin to prove any part of religion
to be true. In other words, they are dead set against it such that nothing will convince them of the truth.
Also, this unrecognized motivation would mean that most of the anger displayed by closed minded skeptics is really directed at their abusive parents rather than towards the issue at hand, which explains why they can be so obviously vindictive and clearly hateful in their attacks and slander against legitimate scientists
This religious resistance to any proof of the afterlife, coupled with their statements about "grandma's superstitions", seems to tell me that they are deathly afraid that, should the afterlife be
proved real, then that may also prove parts of grandma’s religion were
real……..and if grandma’s religion was real then, because they have now rejected that religion,
according to what they
were told as children, they will have hell to pay……
Psychologically, they may have thoughtfully rejected grandma’s
blind faith religion just as any reasoning and thinking adult would. But, because memories of the childhood abuse are
painful they have not revisited all of what they were taught in childhood to clean
out the other associated beliefs which were inculcated when they were mere toddlers
and which they unquestioningly accepted. Consequently,
while they adamantly no longer believe in God, they may still unconsciously fear the punishment of hellfire.
Such an overwhelming but unconscious fear (accepted in childhood as real) causes them to have a
powerful need to prove that the afterlife is not real, even if they have to resort
to pseudoscience, and name calling.
Indeed, these skeptics are often loose
with the facts (in order to have the appearance of being scientific), while at
the same time they make cowardly attacks on the lives and reputations of great
men and women of science involved in investigations of the paranormal.
For example, one internationally renowned skeptic is Dr. Michael Shermer, Ph.D. the founder of the
Skeptics Society and publisher of Skeptic Magazine. Dr. Shermer is capable of deep thinking and can write nuanced scientific articles such as his excellent insight into the subject of Where Neuroscience Meets Criminology, which appears in the June 2013 issued of Scientific American. But, the same man, in his 2001 book, The Borderlands of Science, falls far short of his own journalistic standards. In a section where
Dr. Shermer is supposedly “proving” that remote viewing does not exist, he cavalierly labels
Russel Targ, and Dr. Hal Putoff, as “Psychics”. Both of these men are world
famous, and highly renowned “Physicists” and not psychics,
This intentional mislabeling of these two scientists while blatant is also laughable, and makes Dr. Shermer
look like a complete moron, and one who apparently does not know the difference between psychics
and physics. On the other hand, for skeptics who want to not believe and who make up much of his chosen audience, it argues well for this
very unscientific proof which Shermer is presenting in his book, which only alludes at being scientific.
ALso, in the very next paragraph, Dr. Shemer continues to distort the facts when he labels
a retired LAPD detective as a “part time Christmas tree salesman". All these
deliberate mislabels are wide stretches of the truth, but are carefully calculated to make the honest science which Dr. Shermer is attempting to “debunk” look
slip shod, while at the same time making his own slip shod analysis appear to be authoritative. This works well for his chosen audience, but,
to any intelligent reader Dr. Shermer’s use of innuendo and smear tactics smacks
more of yellow journalism than it does of science.
Russel Targ is actually a
laser engineer with a Bachelor’s in Physics who also did graduate work at
Columbia University, and has received two awards from NASA for inventions and
contributions in lasers and laser communications.
Hal Putoff, Ph.D is a specialist in laser physics holds a BS
and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D
from Stanford University, who has invented and worked with tunable lasers and electron
beam devices, concerning which he holds patents, and who co-authored the text Fundamentals
of Quantum Electronics (by Wiley, 1969), published in English, French,
Russian and Chinese. Putoff
is also well known within gravitational physics circles for his papers on polarized vacuum (PV) and stochastic electrodynamics topics, which
are examples of alternative approaches to general relativity and quantum
Now, whether either of these respected scientists
(Targ and Putoff) have any psychic powers is immaterial to the science of the
case Dr. Shermer should be trying to make. Further, both scientists certainly have much better scientific credentials than their skeptical
detractor Dr. Shemer, whose Bachelor’s degree is in Psychology and whose doctorate (Ph.D) is in the History
Another example, the one which caused me to write this blog, is in an April 2013 article in Scientific American, where Dr. Shermer, attacks another immanent scientist, Dr. Eben Alexander, M.D. Neurosurgeon, and Professor of Neurosurgery at Harvard Medical school. Dr Alexander had a Near- Death experience and published a book on it. In Dr. Shermer's article he purports that Near-Death Experiences are hallucinations (an argument which was defeated more than a decade ago by rigorous science). Dr.Shermer also relates his confrontation with Dr. Alexander on the Larry King Show, describing how when the renowned and respected scientist Dr. Alexander M.D. (whose book "Proof of Heaven", is again the number one best seller on the New York Times list) stated that, he "believes the mind can exist separately from the physical body", Dr. Shermer (not a scientist nor an M.D) responds with, "How, Where?"
Dr. Shermer's childish question of, "How and Where" has been fully answered in my own book as well as several others which carefully explain the quantum physics behind the existence of alternative dimensions, M-theory and dark matter.
But, apparently Dr. Shermer has never chosen to read my book nor any of the others clearly explaining these answers to his question which he poses as if it were new and novel.
It does not seem possible, that such deep scientific theories on the Conscious Universe are simply beyond the capability of a man who can think as deeply and write as well as Dr. Shermer often does. Could it be that that he simply chooses to ignore all the evidence because he knows it is irrefutable, and because his mind (as well as that of his constituency), is already made up.
Dr. Shermer goes on in his article to make additional unscientific and false statements (as though they were truth). For example, when he says "There is a reason they are called Near-Death experiences: the people who have them weren't actually dead". Here he blatantly ignores the numerous NDE's where the survivor was declared dead for over 24 hours, and even up to three days with the survivors waking up in the city morgue.
Instead of remaining on point, and discussing the science in question, Dr. Shermer's article then veers off to explain why people would turn to a supernatural explanation for phenomena. This has nothing to do with the science of the case in point, yet seems to satisfy some need within the writer. Apparently, this psychological diatribe seems relevant to Dr. Shermer as a psychologist who has an apparent need to explain for himself and his constituency the psychology behind others beliefs. Especially, those who believe in things that he and his followers do not believe in. Unfortunately, Dr. Shermer fails to examine the motivations for his own beliefs, or the motivations of people who agree with him.
Finally, Dr. Shermer who is himself neither
a scientist, a physicist, nor a Medical Doctor, but merely a psychologist and
a science historian, angrily, and unscientifically attacks and detracts from prominent and legitimate scientists who have been carefully using the scientific method all their lives.
On the other hand, Dr. Shermer claims to endorse the scientific method. as he recently spoke at Ohio State University (in October 2012), promoting his new book, The Believing Brain. Dr. Shermer demonstrated why the scientific method is
the best tool ever devised to determine whether or not our beliefs match
Dr. Shermer followed this proof with an explanation of his opinion that the brain is a "belief engine", and that the brain uses data from the five senses to reinforce already held beliefs. According to Shermer, the brain naturally looks for and finds patterns, which it then infuses with meaning to form beliefs. His theory is that "once beliefs are formed, our brains subconsciously seek out confirmatory evidence in support of those beliefs, accelerating the process of reinforcing them in a positive feedback loop."
Personally, I have no quarrel with his theory which is plausible enough, if he would not be so selective in his application of it.
When Dr. Shermer gave examples of this belief building process (without providing any experimental data) his examples demonstrated almost tunnel vision. All his examples applied to things he is skeptical about (paranormal research, religions, etc). From this it is apparent that he chose not to apply his "belief engine" theory only to the targets of his own skeptical prejudices, and blindly avoiding the fact that, "skeptics also form their own beliefs this same way." This type of selective application is not the scientific method.
On the other hand, paying lip service to the Scientific Method followed by unsupported opinions and conclusions is a clever ruse, which gives the appearance of legitimate science where there is none, and sells to an audience that does not really want to know the facts, but only wants to prove what they already believe..
In my opinion, while Dr. Shermer is a clever journalist, he is only a pseudo scientist, who endorses the Scientific Method on the one hand, yet has repeatedly refused to use it in his own analysis of the data and experimental results, which have been presented to the world by other more legitimate scientists than he.
Instead, Dr. Shermer plays loose with the facts to slander and attack any scientist, no matter how well respected an honored by their field, if that scientist's facts make him uncomfortable. This is simply something that no honest and open minded skeptic or scientist would do. Honest and truly scientific skeptics, would instead do as Bertrand Russell suggested and "look for degrees of probability" in the data presented, yet Dr Shermer does not, and chooses to instead slander the real scientists.
Frankly, I was baffled by Dr. Shermer's obvious injustice, which appears so completely unprofessional as to be even childish and mean, until I dug deeper into Dr. Shermer's history. and "bingo", what I found takes us right back to the theory
about fears based on childhood religious abuse.
Online I found several resume's and histories on Dr. Shermer’s background all of which confirm my theory of childhood religious abuse....... Today, Shermer may be a confirmed disbeliever and an avowed atheist, but
he originally started out as a true believer Christian Fundamentalist.
right, Shermer even began his college studies with a major in Christian Theology,
Further, between 1971 and 1977, that is up until he was 23 years old, Shermer regularly participated in door to door evangelism as
a Fundamentalist “Born Again Christian”. Sometime before graduation he switched his
major to Psychology and so graduated with a bachelors in Psychology rather than
in Christian Theology. You can verify Shemer's background as a Christian Fundamentalist on Wikipedia.
The moral of all this is that strong belief
or strong disbelief is often motivated by other factors. In almost every case closed minded skepticism does not
have the science or objectivity to prove its case, but the skepticism is instead more like a religious
belief, or in this case a religious disbelief, which is why it is so hard to dislodge. There mind is already made up, cast in concrete and will never be changed..
Shermer, finishes up his April article against Dr. Alexander by again making the claim that all Near-Death Experiences are hallucinations, and quotes several other disbelieving materialist scientists. His position is maintained with complete disregard for all the science out there conclusively proving that NDE's are not hallucinations.
For example, this thought experiment usually suffices for any reasoning and thinking professional, "If these are all hallucinations, why then are all the NDE survivors having the same hallucination?"
But, closed minded skeptics never address this question, glossing over every inconvenient fact and giving off the appearance of science where there is none. Only showing a deep religious motivation to maintain the status quo materialist world view.
Dr. Peter Fenwick, a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and a neuropsychiatrist
with an international reputation—a specialist in the mind/brain interface and
the problem of consciousness --- is Britain's leading clinical authority on the
NDE and President of the International Association for the Near-Death
Studies. (IANDS). Dr, Fenwick has a different view than Shermer's experts. Dr. Fenwick states:
"(They) just don't have the knowledge...So
much rubbish is talked about Near-Death Experiences by people who don't have to
deal with these things on a daily basis. ……...... What is quite clear is that any
disorientation of brain function leads to a disorientation of perception and
reduced memory. (Consequently), you can't normally get highly-structured and clearly remembered
experiences (like an NDE) from a highly damaged or disoriented brain.
But, hasn't this always been the case with new science?
Adamant disbelief is nothing new. Professor
Henry Morton, who knew Thomas Edison, stated immediately prior to Edison’s
demonstration of the electric light bulb: “On
behalf of science…Edison’s experiments are a…fraud upon the public”.
Yet, Another scientist from the French
Academy of Sciences, immediately after listening to a record made by Edison and
played on his new invention the phonograph stated, “Clearly that is a case of ventriloquism”.
ALAN WILL SPEAK ON NEAR-DEATH PANEL APRIL 26 IN PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA
By Alan Hugenot,
March 19, 2013
Alan will speak about his Near-Death Experience (NDE), along with three other panel members in Palo Alto, California on Friday evening April 26th. The event is a regular meeting of the Foundation for Mind-Being Research (FMBR), but it is also open to the public at a nominal admission charge. The panel will be held at Unity Palo Alto, in Y.E.S. Hall, 3391 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA. 94306. The additional panelists will be Nadia McCaffrey, Sharon Lund (author of Dying to Live), and P.H.M Atwater (author of numerous NDE books). Atwater is quoted repeatedly by Alan in his book The Death Experience: What it is like when you die. All panelists in this exceptional group are Near-Death Experiencers, several have had multiple out-of-body experiences.
Consequently, this will be an excellent evening, with some of the finest NDE authorities and speakers in the U.S. on the panel. Last time, FMBR held an NDE panel the audience did not want to leave when the forum was over. This forum promises to be even more informative.
ARGUMENTS AGAINST NEAR-DEATH
ARE FAULTY By Alan Hugenot,
December 17, 2012
Dr. Peter Fenwick, a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and a Neuro-psychiatrist with an international reputation is a specialist in the mind/brain interface and
the problem of consciousness. He is Britain's leading clinical authority on the
NDE. Regarding the skeptics Dr. Fenwick says,"(They) just don't have the knowledge...So much
rubbish is talked about Near-Death Experiences by people who don't have to deal
with these things on a daily basis."
"The fact that people feel an infinite sense
of loss when they leave them (NDE's) behind.. What is quite clear is that any
disorientation of brain function (which skeptics often claim cause NDE's) leads to a disorientation of perception and
reduced memory..... You can't normally get highly-structured and clearly remembered
experiences (such as the NDE's provide) from a highly damaged or disoriented brain" (Fenwick 1995: 47).
Further, when discussing what dying itself is like Dr. Fenwick says, (For) the dying process itself.... I am going to use the near-death experience (NDE) as a model." Science & Spirituality, IANDS 03 April 2007
That is, of course, the premise of my book The Death Experience: What it is like when you die I propose in the book that the Near-Death experience and the physical death process are identically the same thing.
It is also important to note that the skeptics who speak against the NDE are most often just news reporters looking for a controversy, but none of them are credentialed MD psychiatrists actually working in consciousness research. In other words, while the skeptics make a lot of noise they are not truly qualified to even speak on the subject, so their in-expert remarks must be seen for what they really are, just shallow thinking "hot air".

SOME TRADITIONAL CHRISTIANS MAY
HAVE TROUBLE WITH MY BOOK
By Alan Hugenot,
December 5, 2012
The message in my book is that:
1. Each of us will never cease. Eternal life is the birthright of everyone.
2. We will see our departed loved ones again.
Unfortunately, while most believing Christians agree
with Item 2, of the book's message, it is Item 1 which gives conservative
theologians heartburn. STUCK with having to justify an archaic Belief System
(B.S.) they find my first hand knowledge of Item 1 distressingly hard to
On the other hand, it is their defensive attitude which prevents them from
seeing that I am only verifying the facts of what Jesus was telling his
disciples 2000 years ago.
The problem is not in any disagreement between me and
Jesus, like they might hope to believe, instead the problem lies with each denominations differing beliefs. They all have tweaked doctrines and created their own misinterpretations
(suited to their differing cultural perspectives) during the two millenniums
since their Lord walked the Earth. Let's face it, Jesus said one thing not the 25 different things the denominations infer that he said. Jesus also based his statements on the world view that his disciples held at the time, which was not our single lifetime concept imposed by Emperor Justinian in 553 AD, but instead was Plato's world view, that included the concepts of the soul and reincarnation.
Unfortunately, this striving by each Christian denomination, and all the follow on derivatives including Islam, to see it their own way, is
what has caused all the wars of history (Our faith is right, everyone else is wrong,
so "kill the infidel").
Today, it is often difficult for secular non-believers to see that the
Jews, the Arabs and the Christians are all claiming to be following the same God. To the non-believers it is "If they are all following the same God why are they killing each other?" On the other hand, Jesus called Christians to be a light unto the world.
In the final analysis, although, I am talking about real proof
of Eternal Life, which proves what Jesus was saying. Many conservative Christian theologians just can't stomach the fact that the Eternal Life I describe
is universally given to all souls (both the good and the bad) Their religious
traditions want Heaven to be EARNED and not handed out to everyone, gratis (another of Emperor Justinian's imposed ideas).
Yet, Saint Paul, whom the Christians claim to agree with, was pretty clear in
saying that heaven is not earned nor deserved.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves; it is the free gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast".
2:8 & 9 (KJV)Unfortunately, there seems to be an awful lot of that boasting at most Christian congregations, even the hymn, "Faith of our Fathers...Living Still, is in some ways boastful.
SORROW IS AN IMPORTANT PART
OF THIS PHYSICAL LIFE
By Alan Hugenot, December 4, 2012
"The first of those sorrows which are sent to wean us from the earth had
visited her, and its dimming influence quenched her dearest smiles". Mary
Shelley, Chapter 9, Frankenstein 1817
Recently, several bereaved people have told me that they are fearful of their likely
reactions should they should start to read my book. Their loss was very difficult
and they don't want to volunteer for it again; fearful my book might take them
But, once they understand the true import of the book their
fear and much of their sorrow should simply dissolve.
The message of the book is:
1. Although we will each face physical death, none of us will ever cease to live. Eternal life is the birthright of every soul.
2. Consequently, we will see our departed loved ones again, and again.
That thought alone, that we will see our beloved again, is the entire truth of my book. But, as Mary Shelly stated in 1817, it
is the sorrow itself which tempers our waiting and which polishes our souls. Yet, everyone strives to avoid sorrow at all costs.
Indeed, it is that very sorrow which is why our souls chose to come here to this vale of tears to learn these difficult lessons. My favorite rendition of this theme is Catherine Von Schlegel's Hymn from 1752, every word of which agrees with the the Death Experience concepts in the book.
BE STILL MY SOUL
Von Schlegel, 1752, The
Lutheran Hymnal (c. 1941) p. 651
to Finlandia by Jean Sibelius)
Be still, my soul;
the lord is on thy side;
Bear patiently the
cross of grief or pain;
Leave to thy God
to order and provide;
In every change he faithful will remain
Be still, my soul;
thy best thy heavenly, Friend
ways leads to a joyful end.
Be still, my soul;
thy God doth undertake
To guide the
future as He hath the past.
Thy hope, thy
confidence, let nothing shake;
All now mysterious
shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul;
the waves and winds still know
His voice who
ruled them while He dwelt below.
Be still, my soul;
When all is darkened
in the vale of
Then shall thou
better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to sooth
thy sorrows and thy fears.
Be still, my soul;
Thy Jesus can repay
From his own
fullness all He takes away.
Be still, my soul:
the hour is hastening on
When we shall be
forever with the Lord,
disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
love’s pure joy restored.
Be still my soul;
when changes and tears are past,
All safe and
blessed we shall meet at last.

NEUROSURGEON SAYS CONSCIOUSNESS SURVIVAL IS VERY REAL: Alan Hugenot, October 13, 2012
In the cover story of Newsweek Magazine, datelined October 15, 2012, a neurosurgeon who has taught at Harvard Medical School provides undeniable personal evidence that the consciousness survives the death of the brain.
Dr. Eben Alexander III, M.D., states that after believing for his whole life that Near Death Experiences caused by chemical and biological reactions in the brain, now states that he has evidence that they are very real.
Placed in a coma by a rare form of meningitis which attacked his cerebral cortex and shut down his brain. After seven days the attending physicians and neurosurgeons were deciding whether to discontinue treatment of this obviously dead patient whose brain had been destroyed by the deadly infection to the point that it now showed no activity under constant CT scan. But, that was when Dr. Alexander opened his eyes and literally "returned from the dead".
His experience occurred in 2008, and today Dr. Alexander is fully recovered. I referenced his experience, which I had researched from his website (see page 28 of my own book THE DEATH EXPERIENCE).
For Dr. Alexander's complete story purchase a copy of his forth coming book Proof of Heaven, from Simon & Schuster. Having a Harvard Neurosurgeon verifying the science which I have been carefully collating for 40 years is indeed gratifying.
I was fortunate to make Dr. Alexander's acquaintence at the FFF conventikon in Phoenix in November.
CONSCIOUSNESS AND QUANTUM FIELD THEORY: Alan Hugenot, September 7, 2012
One of the first objections usually raised against the existence of the afterlife is,
"Well, O.K. I admit that there is a great deal of evidence, but where could the afterlife possibly exist?"
The short answer is that the afterlife is located in the dark energy of the conscious universe.
Today, there is a revolution taking place in subatomic particle physics, which is altering our world view and replacing it with an entirely new ontology. This revolution is similar to the one which took place when Newtonian physics toppled the church's world view in the 18th and 19th centuries, and unfortunately it is faced with just as much skepticism from the old guard.
But, this is all explained in Chapter 6 of my book, THE DEATH PROCESS, which is now available for purchase on my book page.
This new paradigm includes a conscious universe. Many physicists now believe that the underlying building block of all reality is, in fact, consciousness (mind). In other words, the Universe itself thinks. This is a whole new area of the physics of Quantum Mind, which inserts consciousness into the Schrodinger and Dirac equations to bring about the state vector collapse, as discussed in Chapter 6.
So, if you want to understand the physics of the afterlife, I have explained it all in my new book. ALAN HUGENOT
"AND I LOOK FOR THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD AND THE LIFE OF THE WORLD TO COME" Alan Hugenot, August 3, 2012
Those words in the Nicene Creed (supposedly adopted in 325 AD) mean more than most Christians (Catholic or Protestant) would ever realize.
Because, JESUS, ST. PAUL and the the majority of the early Christian fathers (through Augustine) believed in multiple lifetimes
We are often told by our Protestant or Catholic pastors that those words are talking about resurrection into an eternal life in Heaven.
But, looking closely at the words it is apparent that they are talking about the life of the world to come in the light of reincarnation, in exact accord with the Christian father Origen's (185–253 AD) view of the afterlife.
Yes, The early
Christians believed in reincarnation !
That is a bold statement, but my
research finds it to be completely true. Regardless, of what we have been
taught by both religion and science for the last 1500 years. In fact, when
Jesus spoke to his disciples he spoke in the context of the prevailing world
view at that time, which included Plato’s concepts of the soul, afterlife and
reincarnation. The world view held by all the world’s religions and the
secular world at that time included reincarnation. Jesus disciples were born
into a world that believed our individual consciousness reincarnated and had
many lives, instead of the single life theory we are told they believed in.
Reincarnation was the ancient Egyptian
ontology, as well as Hindu, Buddhist, Platonist and neo-Platonist ontology, and
was also the majority rabbinical position (Pharisees) of the Hebrews after
about 200 BC. This is the sect that St. Paul (Saul of Tarsus) was a member of
prior to his conversion, and where he got all his religious training.
All of the early Christians fathers
(Jesus, St. Paul, Valentinus, Origen and Clement of Alexandria) up until the
early 4th century believed in reincarnation, and that belief
continued in some sects of the Christian church until the 8th century after
is a quote from Origen the Christian bishop at Alexandria in the
early third century. Origen was well respected by the other bishops in his own
era, and Saint Gregory Bishop of Nyssa (335 – 394AD) writing in the late fourth century
described Origen as, “The prince of
Christian Learning in the third century”.
Here is what Origen, the early Christian Bishop of Alexandria, said
soul…… comes into this world strengthened by the victories or weakened by the
defeats of its previous life. Its place in this world as a vessel appointed to
honor or dishonor is determined by its previous merits or demerits. Its work in
this world determines its place in the world which is to follow this one.
Origen’s words clearly echo the words which
would later appear in the closing sentence of the Nicene Creed (325AD), “And
I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come”, (i.e.
the physical world here which is to follow this one that Origen was talking about).
In fact, it was only after the Roman
Emperors began to control the Christian church beginning with Constantine I, in
312AD that this view began to change to a single life view point. Finally, 300
years after Origen was dead, and 550 years after Christ had died the Roman
Emperor Justinian forced the church to accept the single lifetime theory, at
the Second Council of Constantinople (Fifth Ecumenical Council) in 553 AD. This
council was not attended by the sitting pope who refused to attend, instead the council was called by Justinian. The bishops present, in order to please the
Emperor, adopted his 12 points “Against Origen”. These 12 points ostracized but
did not condemn, those who believed in reincarnation. The bishops
also gave no scriptural basis for this determination and did not say that it
was “wrong”,. Also, the bishops never entered its adoption in the minutes of the
I discovered that Saint Augustine in 428 AD, 130 years before Justinian adopted the single life theory, had stated that the so-called
“new” Christian religion was actually the same ancient Egyptian religion
(Perennial Philosophy) which had merely been re-branded as Christianity., Saint Augustine said quite clearly:
which is called the “Christian” religion existed among the ancients, and never
did not exist, from the beginning of the human race until Christ came in the
flesh, at which time the true religion WHICH ALREADY EXISTED began to be called

Since that "original" religion was the platonist faith of the Helenic Mystery religions it included reincarnation, and from St. Augustine's own words, it must be true that:
REINCARNATION (THAT A SURVIVING CONSCIOUSNESS CAN OCCUPY SUCCESSIVE
PHYSICAL BODIES) WAS ALSO BELIEVED BY THE EARLY CHRISTIANS.

These are both official declarations that a book or pamphlet is FREE OF DOCTRINAL OR MORAL ERROR. No
implication is contained therein that those who have granted the Nihil Obstat
and Imprimatur agree with the contents, opinions or statements expressed. In
laymen’s terms, this means that the Catholic Church officially agree that these
are the actual words of Saint Augustine himself, and they agree that he
actually said, “That which is called the Christian Religion existed among the
ancients, and never did Not exist, from the beginning of the human race”.
